LPNA Business Meeting
3/28/23

Feb Minutes Approved

District Reports:
-Church Area being cleaned up
-Brooks Global site is being fenced off.  April 1st start date, parking lot closes.
-Bike Month in May- hoping to host in Lindley Park
-Yard Sale is May 20th
-If you have power poles that have not been picked up near you call the city and they will call Duke Power to get them to come get them as it is a code violation.

Committee Reports:
Environmental:
-Park Cleanup-next one will include UNCG Students and alternate with neighbor workdays.  We would like to plant some plants-attempt to get donations vs spend treasury funds.
-Chemical smells in the neighborhood.  Email Ryan Dyson at division of Air Quality Winston-Salem Regional Office   336-776-9650
-Renters are residents are allowed to participate in the neighborhood association.

Communications:
-Increased neighborhood involvement.  Flyers, booth at the market, engage the shops/stores.  Create an information sheet with specific needs and specific details on time commitments.
-Carrie Little is going do social media posting.
-Email coordinator position would be helpful.
-Jessica needs us to go onto the webpage and “audit” it for inaccurate info, etc.
-We have a google drive where we could save important documents.  Newsletters are in there currently and we could put meeting minutes in there.

Donations:
-Should we increase the default amount (it is currently $15 on the website)
-Transparency of funds- where does our current money go? This may help increase donations.
-Generally, $2-3,000 at any given time in the treasury

Social/Upcoming Dates:
Egg Hunt April 1st 1pm in the park, Easter Bunny, Age group prizes
Spring Fling May 6th (we need to find someone to organize)
National Night Out August 1st– 6pm
General Meeting May 23rd 6pm for food 6:30pm for meeting- Greensboro Beautiful come to speak about the Arbor Day Trees! Pizza and Drinks provided.

Government and Community Liaison Working Group:
Rezoning of properties:
-Holiday Drive was successful, 48 multifamily units will be developed behind Spring Garden Bakery.

Short Term Rentals:
-multi neighborhood group continues to meet and meet with City Council to oppose ordinance amendment. State-level regulations being considered that would essentially prohibit cities from putting any restrictions on STRs.

Brooks Global:
-separate committee-we are offering support as needed

Kellin Foundation:
-has submitted re-zoning application for church property at corner of Walker and Holden as has asked LPNA boar for letter of support.  Will go to P and Z meeting in May at the earliest

Revisit/update for LP Neighborhood Plan:
-committee being formed to provide recommendations to board at April meeting.

Upcoming activity:
-Coordinate with Highland Park to negotiate with COG to get safety improvements at Holden/Ashland/Wendover intersection.
-Neighbor Woods tree planting will take place in November.  Neighborhood residents will have opportunities to apply for trees to be planted on their property.  Events will be scheduled.

April Meetings:
-Planning and Zoning Commission-April 10th
-Board of Adjustment-April 24th.
